Wind Sensor Wireless Link.

The Instromet wind sensor wireless link was developed to allow wind sensor data (Speed and Direction) to be sent over distances greater than the 100m maximum for a cabled system. This could prove useful for industrial locations where long cable runs are not suitable or for golf clubs and even airfields wishing to obtain wind data from further afield than just the imediate location. Although we have placed our wireless link in amongst our commercial products, we see no reason as to why this device couldn't be used for domestic purposes either.

The inbuilt wireless modules allows only wind sensor data to be sent up to an absolute maximum of 3km with a clear line of sight. But given the proximity of buildings and other geographical limitaions, we would expect 2km to be the normal maximum operational range for this product.

wireless receiver The transmitter sends data to the receiver every 5 seconds. The output of the receiver will then either ramp up or down to the new wind figures it receives from the transmitter. Ramping to the new figures ensures an always changing output is always available from the receiver rather than just jumping to the new figures. This then gives a more natural feel if the unit is connected to one of our weather stations.

Two main options are available for this system:
Without solar enclosure
With solar enclosure

The option with the solar enclosure is ideal for sensor locations with no power access. The enclosure features an external solar panel used to keep the internal 6v battery charged. This battery then of course powers the wind sensor transmitter. For the receiver, we supply a plug in 12v DC power supply, as its envisaged that the receiver will be situated where mains power is available.

Of course if power is available at the sensors location, then the transmitter can be supplied without the solar enclosure.

Unfortunately this system is supplied without the wind sensor as its deemed that this would be supplied with the peripheral equipment being extended.
